United States Membership

CMI's membership consists of both clergy and churches.  Clergy members are either Licensed or Ordained, both of which can be recognized as well as conferred.  Ordination, when conferred, is by invitation only.  Each clergy member is entitled to full ministerial rights, such as performing and solemnizing marriages, baptism, and communion.  Each clergy member has a vote in the corporation.

Membership is also available to churches and parachurch organizations.  An organizational member must be incorporated and, like a clergy member, is entitled to a corporate vote.  Churches that are members of CMI are granted three (3) votes.

CMI maintains no Ecclesiastical Hierarchy nor possesses any such authority over any organizational members, unless granted constitutionally by such organizational members to CMI and approved by the general membership of CMI.  CMI does not own the property of any local church or other organizational member of CMI.  Each and every organizational member is autonomous and self-governing.

CMI offers several benefits and programs to the members and friends of the corporation.  Among these beneficial programs are...
Accountability, Annual Convention, CMI-related Bible Colleges, Camps, Children's Ministry, Candidature for Clergy and Churches, Church Planting, Counseling, Fellowship, Group Tax Exemption for Organizations, Local Church Missions Conferences, Ministerial On-the-Job Training, Network for Missions, Pulpit Supply, Recommendations for Church Staff, Seminars for Ministers and Churches,  Youth Activities, and Activities for Ministers and Churches.

CMI is a fellowship of churches and ministers dedicated to reaching the lost by proclaiming the whole Gospel to the whole man.  As such, CMI wishes to join hands with all those of like precious faith who share in this greatest of endeavors.  Because the base of this Gospel testimony, both here and abroad, is the Church (Matthew 16:18), CMI holds as a primary purpose the establishment and strengthening of the local church.

It is with these goals in mind, and in an effort to promote accountability, to produce excellence in ministry and to provide spiritual covering and authority, that our procedures and criteria for membership credentials exist.
