In the midst of the Jesus
Movement of 1969, six young hippies became Christians and
sensed God calling them to preach. In response to their
request for training, Dr. Paul E. Paino, pastor and founder
of Calvary Temple in Fort Wayne, Indiana, began meeting with
these young men, preparing them for ministry. Their number
grew, creating the need for a more structured approach, so
Dr. Paino formed the Paul & Timothy Program to
train and equip ministers, and an organization capable of
issuing credentials. That organization became known as
Calvary Ministries Inc, International (CMI).
Over the years, changes
have been in structure and location, but the purpose has
remained the same: to equip men and women to reach the
world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today CMI has a
Global Division dedicated to helping ministers on other
continents to establish fellowships of churches and
ministers in their own nations. In addition to the CMI
National Headquarters in the USA, there are presently nine CMI
organizations internationally. After the death of Dr. Paino
in 2005, his son, Dr. Paul Craig Paino became the General
Overseer of the fellowship. In 2009, under his
leadership, a major restructuring of CMI occurred to better
address the ministry needs of both the younger and older
generations. Constantly seeking to stay relevant, and with
a heart for God and a passion to reach the lost, CMI is
setting the pace in helping to establish and strengthen
local churches to carry out the Great Commission.
